Process for vaporising a mixture of liquid hydrocarbons contained in a receiver, by admitting into the reservoir a gas which is inert with respect to the hydrocarbons, delivered under pressure. A fraction of the mixture is extracted, and the complete vapourisation of that fraction is ensured by supplying a quantity of heat before expanding the gas, where the quantity of heat is greater than the enthalpy loss of the fraction during its expansion. Vapourisation unit containing a storage tank (10), has means (18, 20) of supplying an inert gas to the tank at a pressure greater than that of the vapour saturating the mixture, means (22) of extracting the vapour from the tank, means of heating this fraction and means of expanding (26) the heated fraction.
