<p>A close spaced planer vacuum diode is constructed with a photoemissive first electrode (22, 23, 24) and a low work function second electrode (21). As a result of photon flux on said photoemissive first electrode (22, 23, 24), electrons are emitted into the vacuum space (62) and travel to said second electrode (21).
