The planet roller extruder includes a planet roller assembly of several modules. The novel feature is that planet spindles (10) within one modules, and/or from module to module, have diverse lengths. Preferably, first and/or second modules in melt flow direction, have planet spindles (10) of diverse lengths. The spindles are ordered in groups; within a group they have the same length. Groups include three or more planet spindles, which are distributed uniformly around the circumference of the central spindle (9).
