摘要 An IC engine with an exhaust driven turbocharger is controlled by a stored map of operating parameters to adjust the turbo settings and the engine braking settings to provide a maximum braking effect without causing the turbocharger to exceed its maximum operating pressure/speed. No separate pressure sensor or speed sensor are required for the turbocharger. The control system monitors the engine speed and the mass of air pumped by the turbocharger, as well as the atmospheric pressure, temperature etc. to identify where on the map the operating conditions are. The input pressure to the turbocharger is limited to a maximum value to prevent damage.
