Electro-surgical appliance and method of operation

The method involves an appliance with a live and at least one neutral electrode for working in body cavities/hollow organs filled with fluid. A rinsing fluid is passed through the body cavity and a neutral electrode or electrodes in the form of a trocar(s) (20) supplies the fluid. The electrical resistance is measured between either two neutral electrodes or between one neutral electrode and an auxiliary electrode also located in the fluid. The operating current fed to the live electrode is reduced or interrupted or an alarm signal initiated if the resistance lies outside a specific resistance range
