HEAT EXCHANGER BAFFLE DESIGN

An improved heat exchanger (1) in which a housing (2) defines an annular space (9) containing coolant and a tube (3) for carrying working fluid through the coolant. On the top end of the casing (2) there is a cover (4) that seals the annular space (9) and provides entry (22) and exit (23) portals for the tube (3) and the coolant. Maintenance and/or cleaning of the heat exchanger (1) is accomplished by removing the cover (4) and pulling the tube (3) from the annular space (9). Baffles (5, 6) formed from flexible sheets of material isolate the surface of the coil (3) from the housing (2) thereby reducing corrosive bonding and easing the removal process. Tapered edges along the annular space (9) also help overcome any binding that might occur between the housing (2) and the coil (3) or the baffles (5, 6).
