The novelty is that a filter assembly for the treatment of esp. swimming pool water consists of: (a) a vessel (1) with a flow-calming inlet (11) chamber; (b) several filter elements (2) onto which solid particles are washed; (c) a suction chamber (6) linked to the filter element (2) core; the lower part of the suction chamber (6) is linked to a suction pump, while the upper part forms a gas collection chamber (19); (d) the gas collection chamber (19) has an air ventilation passage (24), an air shut-off valve (25) and inlet (26) and an outlet pipe (27) to a suction pump (28).
