The multiplexing method has at least one optical input sequentially coupled to at least 2 optical outputs, with light transmission in both directions. The light signal is transmitted from the input to the selected output via a rotatable optical transmission channel, which is rotated to bring its output end into alignment with the required output. The multiplexing method may allow a number of inputs to be coupled to a number of inputs using several rotatable optical transmission channels rotated about a common central axis.
