The invention is related to a coin (1) and a set of coins comprised of several coins of different values. The coin (1) is characterised in being provided with one or more openings (2, 2', 2'') so that the opening or the openings form a number that indicates the value of the coin. The number can comprise one or more figures, most commonly 0, 1, 2, and 5, whereby the figures provided according to the invention can be used to, for example, indicate values 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 of the set of coins. The coins can be used as official money or as tokens which can be used as a medium of exchange in certain automatic selling machines or similar limited targets of use.
