The leaf spring (3), by which the step (1) is attached to the vehicle, is connected by both ends to the frame (2) of the vehicle. The attachment of the spring at one end is rigid. The attachment at the other end is flexible and permits a relative movement between the spring and vehicle frame. The step (1) is attached in the longitudinal centre region of the spring and is torsionally fixed around the longitudinal axis of the vehicle.
