The vehicle seat articulation comprises connecting webs fixed to the seat and seat back and a support web (38) secured to the seat and back. The webs rotate relative to each other around an articulation axis. A lever (34d) for coupling the webs has one end (36A), pivoted parallel to the axis, able to pivot between a securing position of a second end (36B) of this lever to the connecting web and a release position. The lever second end has locking means (100) to (104) for its activated securing position. These comprise a weakening zone (104) of the support web which is deformable when the webs are subject to an accidental couple. This enables the lever to be displaced and engage ramps (100,102) locking the lever in its securing position.
