PURPOSE:To enhance the running stability at the time of retreating by changing into No.2 control mode for stable running from No.1 control mode for forward running to suppress unstable behavior of a car when it is in backward motion. CONSTITUTION:A control unit to control a rear wheel steering mechanism in linkage with operation of a front wheel steering mechanism is equipped with a steering control means 101, which is fed with output signals from a front and a rear transverse G-sensor 33, 34 as a car behavior sensing means to sense transverse G (yawrate). Rear wheels are steered on the basis of No.1 control mode for forward running to suppress unstable behavior of the car on the basis of input signal. A changing means 102 is furnished which is fed with output signal of a reverse switch 42 as a backward running sensing means, and if the case is such, controls by the steering control means 101 is changed from No.1 control mode into a mode, in which two wheel steering is made, as No.2 control mode for stable running when backward running is sensed. |
