PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste ink-storing apparatus for preliminary discharge of an ink-jet printer that can shorten a time required for the preliminary discharge. SOLUTION: An opening part 21a of a waste ink-receiving member 21 is formed with a breadth corresponding to a total breadth of all head parts 5a of a printing head 5. At the time of a preliminary discharge, the printing head 5 is moved to a position where all head parts of the printing head 5 confront the waste ink-receiving member 21. Without moving the printing head 5, the preliminary discharge is carried out for an optional head part of the printing head 5 (e.g. every head part requiring the preliminary discharge) by an ink discharge control means. |
