<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure interchangeability of a magnetic tape between different drives even if narrow track is performed by improving linearity of a recording track. SOLUTION: A piezo element 6 controlling positions of the recording heads 1, 3 in the direction of width of a recording track is provided at the lower part of recording heads 1, 3. Distortion of linearity of a track locus by the recording heads 1, 3 is detected in overall region of a track by reproducing a specific tape previously having a track locus of ideal linearity by the recording heads 1, 3, distortion of linearity of this detected track locus is stored corresponding to a rotation position of a rotary cylinder 5, when data is recorded in a magnetic tape, positions of the recording heads 1, 3 are controlled by applying voltage the piezo element 6 so that this distortion is compensated in accordance with distortion of linearity of a track locus for a rotation position of the rotary cylinder 5 previously stored. Thereby, linearity of a recording track is improved, and interchangeability of a magnetic tape can be secured.</p> |
