PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a grain-oriented silicon steel sheet having high tensile strength insulating coating good in adhesion and in which remarkable low core loss is attained by previously forming an intermediate layer of a specified compound on the smoothed surface of a steel sheet. SOLUTION: On the surface of a grain-oriented silicon steel sheet in which secondary recrystallization is completed, previously an intermediate layer composed of a mixture of one or >= two kinds among silicon oxide, aluminum oxide and iron oxide and/or >= 2 kinds among multiple oxides of the oxides of them is formed, and after that, aluminum borate coating is formed on the surface. Furthermore, the thickness of the intermediate layer is regulated to 0.001 to <0.1 μm. |
