PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a molded article having satisfactory impact strength, gloss, and clarity by molding a rubber-modified styrene resin compsn. which contains a rubbery polymer and comprises a continuous styrene resin phase and rubber- contg. particles dispersed therein in a specified average particle size so that each dispersed particle projecting from the surface of the molded item is in a dented state. SOLUTION: This article is obtd. from a rubber-modified styrene resin compsn. which contains 3-20 wt.% rubbery polymer and comprises a continuous styrene resin phase and rubber-contg. particles dispersed therein in an average particle size of 0.2-3μm, the particles being prepd. by grafting, onto a rubbery polymer, the same monomer as that used for producing the styrene resin of the continuous phase. The article is prepd. by extruding the compsn. under the conditions satisfying the relations: Tc<=Tv-10 and (Td-Tc)/(L/Vc)>=500 (wherein Tc is the surface temp. of a roll, a belt, or a liq. bath; Tv is the Vicat softening point of the compsn.; L is the free running distance of the extruded compsn.; and Vc is the linear velocity). |
