PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition free from monohydric alcohol, having improved adhesivity and durability, keeping the make-up for a long period and causing little transfer of the make-up by including ethyl cellulose dissolved in a specific solvent. SOLUTION: (A) Ethyl cellulose is dissolved in (B) a solvent selected from a natural oil, a 6-30C triglyceride, a propylene glycol ester, a neopentyl glycol ester, a 10-100C fatty alcohol, a compound having solubility parametersδd andδa satisfying the following formulas 15.00(J/cm<3> )<1/2> <=δd <=18.00(J/cm<3> )<1/2> and 8.00(J/cm<3> )<1/2> <=δa<=10.00(J/cm<3> )<1/2> [δa=(δp<2> +δn<2> )<1/2> ] or their mixture. The amounts of the component A and the component B in the composition are preferably about 0.05-20 wt.% and about 10-98 wt.%, respectively.
