PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify constitution by using one sensor for sensors for detecting the top end of an intermediate transfer belt and a thrust directional position. SOLUTION: The end part of the intermediate transfer belt 9 is notched to provide a right triangular detecting hole 9a. A side (a) is provided in parallel with the thrust direction of the intermediate transfer belt and a side (b) is provided to incline toward the side (a). A light transmission type sensor 25 is arranged to correspond to the detecting hole 9a. When the belt 9 is moved in the direction of an arrow R9, the crossing distance of the sensor 25, in the detecting hole 9a is changed in accordance with the position in the thrust direction of the belt 9, so that the time required for crossing is different. On the contrary, the time until the sensor 25 detects the side (b), after the sensor 25 detects the side (a) (a top end position) is detected. Thus, the position in the thrust direction of the intermediate transfer belt is detected. |
