<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer data between a computer main body and an external floppy disk drive without any special data transfer equipment, etc., by mounting a module for infrared-ray communication and enabling the external floppy disk derive to function as an intelligent terminal machine. SOLUTION: When a floppy disk 9 is loaded in the external floppy disk drive 1, the kind of the floppy disk 9 is recognized immediately and its information is stored in a nonvolatile memory 10. Further, when a host computer 2 requests data of the external floppy disk drive 1, its request information is sent to the external floppy disk drive 1 by making use of the infrared-ray communication function. The external floppy disk drive 1 decodes the request 11, reads in data from the floppy disk 9 on the basis of information stored in a nonvolatile memory 10, and sends the data to the host computer 2 through infrared-ray communication.</p> |
