PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the charge applying member and its manufacturing method and the electrostatic latent image developer using a specified phenol resin and the apparatus and method for image formation each rapid in rising of charge, free from the deterioration of a charge amount in high temperature and high humidity and extreme rise of charge amount in low temperature and low humidity and deterioration of the developer and deterioration into a spent toner and high in durability by using the specified phenol resin. SOLUTION: The charge applying member is a resol type phenol resin having structural units selected from the formulae and the like, and in the formulae, at least 2 of X1 -X6 are bonds for combining adjacent structural units and (m) of them are hydroxy groups and (n) are -[(CH2 )p NR2 R3 ] groups and the rest is an H or halogen atom or the like; (m) is an integer of >=1; (n) is an integer of 1-4; each of R2 and R3 is, independently, a 1-10 alkyl group; and (p) is an integer of 1-10, thus permitting rising of charge to be rapid, the charge amount not to drop in high temperature and high humidity and not to extremely rise in low temperature and low humidity, and to prevent the deterioration of the developer. |
