PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the required space regarding a geometry accelerator and to increase the speed by interfacing the control unit of the geometry accelerator with a process element. SOLUTION: The control unit 17 for the geometry accelerator 23 of a computer graphic system is provided in the form of a read-only memory, i.e., ROM 100. The implementation of the control unit 17 in the ROM 100 interfaces the control unit 17 with the process element 52. Consequently, a decentralized branching logical mechanism is obtained which enables efficient multipath logical branching of the ROM type control unit 17 of the high-performance geometry accelerator 23. Then the complexity of logic regarding the geometry accelerator 23 of the graphic system is reduced, the necessary storage space is minimized, and its speed is increased. |
