PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the fact that the nonuniformity of an electrostatic latent image formed on an image carrier appears on a formed image as it is, in a contact developing device for developing the electrostatic latent image formed on the image carrier by allowing a developer held on the surface of a developer carrier to contact with the surface of the image carrier. SOLUTION: In the developing device for regulating the quantity of the developer 12 held on the surface of the developer carrier 11 provided to face the image carrier 1 on which the electrostatic latent image is formed, by a regulating member 15, guiding the developer to a developing region facing the image carrier 1 and bringing the developer into contact with the surface of the image carrier 1, to develop the electrostatic latent image formed on the image carrier 1, the developer carrier 11 is constituted in such a manner that a dielectric layer 11d is formed on the surface of a conductive substrate 11c. Then, the thickness (t) and dielectric constantεof the dielectric layer 11d are set to >=50μm and <=10 respectively and a value (t/ε) obtained by dividing the thickness (t) by the dielectric constantεis set to be a value in the range of 15-35. |
