PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce manufacturing cost of a magnification/reduction function of an image in an image processing unit. SOLUTION: An image processing unit is provided with a buffer memory 22 to store color image data. Color image data corresponding to pixel arrays of each line arranged in a main scanning direction are stored in a buffer memory 22 while properly thinning the data in the unit of pixel arrays depending on a set reduction rate. The processing unit is further provided with subscanning direction-reduction circuits 21R, 21G, 21B that reduce the image in the subscanning direction for each color, and magnification of the image in the subscanning direction and magnification and reduction in the main scanning direction are conducted after the color image data are read from the storage means. |
