PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compress an ink absorber uniformly while enhancing the productivity by housing the ink absorber in a cartridge body while holding through a holding member having an open supply port provided on the cartridge body. SOLUTION: When an ink cartridge is assembled, an ink absorber 32 is compressed from the opposite sides while dividing holding members 41, 42. Hook part 43 of the holding member 41 is formed by a stop hole 44 of the holding member 42 and the ink absorber 32 is held in compressed state by a holding member 33. The holding member 33 is then inserted from the opening side of a cartridge body 31 and an upper cover body 34 is bonded to the opening of the cartridge body 31 by ultrasonic welding, or the like. Subsequently, the inside of the cartridge body 31 is evacuated through a hole 39 in the upper cover body 34 opening to the atmosphere and then the ink absorber 32 is filled with in from the sealing member side. Consequently, the ink absorber 32 can be contained in the cartridge body 31 while being compressed uniformly through a simple arrangement and the productivity is enhanced. |
