PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject compounds which are a precursor of a phenol derivative, capable of suppressing the heat generation or material corrosion and important as an industrial chemical by reacting tertiary alcohols with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a specific catalyst. SOLUTION: The tertiary hydroperoxides are produced by reacting tertiary alcohols with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a titanium atom-containing synthetic zeolite. A method for feeding the hydrogen peroxide from the outside of the reactional system into the interior thereof or using the hydrogen peroxide generated from a substance, capable of generating the hydrogen peroxide and present in the reactional system therein is cited as a method for feeding the hydrogen peroxide into the reactional system. For example, cumyl alcohol and 2-toluyl-2-propanol are cited as the tertiary alcohols. Cumene hydroperoxide, etc., are cited as the tertiary hydroperoxides. |
