PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide liquid crystal elements which are held between a pair of substrates in which at least one is transparent and a substrate, have a resin wall and a composite film including liquid crystals, capable of obtaining high contrast and small in a visual angle dependency and to provide a method in which the liquid crystal elements are easily manufactured by selecting a liquid crystal material and a resin material from a wide range. SOLUTION: In liquid crystal elements, liquid crystals 3a and composite films 3 which do not contain the crystals 3a inside and include reins walls 3b that has projecting and recessing parts to a degree to disturb the array condition of the liquid crystals 3a on its surface, are held between a pair of substrates in which at least one of the substrates 1a and 1b is transparent. The liquid crystal elements are produced by forming resin walls 3b through a polymer phase separating method. The resin walls 3b are made to include more than two kinds of resins having mutually different contact angles against the liquid crystals 3a. By controlling the mixing ratio of the two kinds of resins, the forms of the resin walls 3b are controlled. |
