The process for the organoleptic modification of fabrics and clothing items consists in spraying or brushing on the clothing items or fabrics an aqueous mixture of polyurethane resin, partially drying the treated fabric, hot pressing the fabric, and drying it completely to polymerize the mixture; the plant for carrying out said method consists of a sequence of stations placed along a conveyor on which the fabric or clothing item to be treated is placed, said stations being positioning, mixture application, pressing and calendering, and final drying; the thus obtained fabric has a structure with vapor-permeable holes and the appearance thereof is plasticized and soft on touch.
