The outer race of a roller bearing for a split bearing housing such as an engine connecting- rod 16, is formed in two halves 24, each half comprising a semi-cylindrical race portion 25 having a hardened inner bearing surface for the rollers 30 and outwardly extending reinforcing flanges 26 hardened on their outer surfaces which come in contact with the cheeks 14 of the crankshaft webs 12. The outer race halves have tubular projections 29 which mate with corresponding recesses in the split housing and provide lubricating passages into the bearing. The adjacent mating edges of the race halves 24 are provided with one or more curved or straight complemental serrations (Figs. 5 to 9, not shown). |
