The method of identifying the used parts removed from a vehicle consists in preparing an inventory of all parts which are components of either suspension, steering or braking systems. The parts in the inventory are classified by category and vehicle type. The inventory can be stored in a database. Every time a part is removed from a vehicle, the operator checks that it is listed in the inventory and makes a visual inspection of component for any apparent defects. The part is then marked with an alphanumerical code in order to be re-used. A second visual inspection is then recommended to ensure the component is free of apparent defects. A thorough checking of the part is then done using X-ray techniques. |
