摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording device in which a character recognition rate is improved with a simple configuration and a recording material such as toner is saved effectively at a low cost. SOLUTION: In a recording image processing section of a facsimile equipment, recording image data are given to a dynamic memory access(DMA) port 21, where the data are separated into 3×3 matrix data. An algorithm block 22 uses a matrix to extract edge parts and parts other than the edge parts, applies smoothing processing to the edge parts and provides an output of the result to a data conversion section 23. The data conversion section 23 selects any of the usual mode and the toner saving recording mode 1-3 depending on the operating state of a recording section 13 and places density setting to the edge parts and parts other than the edge parts and provides an output of the result to a pulse width modulation(PWM) conversion section 24. The PWM conversion section 24 applies PWM modulation to the image data whose density is set by the conversion section 23 and provides an output of the result to a recording 13. The recording section 13 prints out the image data onto recording paper based on the PWM-modulated image data.
