PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a nickel electrode active material for an alkaline storage battery whose self discharging suppressed while high use efficiency of the activation material being retained. SOLUTION: This method for producing a nickel electrode activation material for alkaline storage batteries comprises a process to deposit a coating layer consisting of cobalt hydroxide as a main component on the surface of a particle of mainly nickel hydroxide by adding an aqueous acidic solution containing cobalt, an aqueous solution containing ammonium ion, and an aqueous alkaline solution to a solution containing the particle of mainly nickel hydroxide and a process to heat the resultant particle in the presence of oxygen and an alkali and a process to wash the obtained particle. |
