PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve characteristic of magnetic head by reducing uneven wear at the sliding surface without deteriorating a magnetic reproducing output of a single crystal magnetic head. SOLUTION: In a single crystal ferrite magnetic head 20 in which a first core 16 and a second core 17 are abutted, the first core 16 is set in the VHS orientation in which the main magnetic path forming surface is set to (110) plane, the tape sliding surface is set to (211) plane and easier magnetization axis is set to <110> axis in the crystal orientation. Moreover, the second core 17 is set in theβorientation in which the main magnetic path forming surface is set to (110) plane, tape sliding surface to (110) and easier magnetization axis is set to <110> axis in the crystal orientation.
