The switch (3) has a pick-up device consisting of a magnetic core (34) and a substrate (2) with upper (21) and lower (22) conductive membranes suspended below the switch. A hole (23) in the substrate is aligned with the magnetic core and when the switch is operated an induced current is generated as the magnetic core moves downwards through the hole. To process the induced current signal a control circuit is provided consisting of an analogue multiplexer, a signal amplifier, and a signal resolving circuit setting upper and lower accuracy thresholds. It also includes a signal blocking or release circuit, a CPU and a circuit to control the threshold value during operation.
