The invention concerns a method for preparing aromatic aldehydes from halogenonaphthalene compounds, more particularly for preparing 2-formyl-6-methoxynaphthalene. The method for preparing an aromatic aldehyde from a naphthalene compound bearing two halogen atoms and an electron donor group located in ortho position of one of the halogen atoms, is characterised in that it consists in reacting said compound with a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen, in the presence of a base and a catalyst comprising at least an element of group VIII of the classification of elements, said element forming a complex with at least a co-ordination agent or ligand. |
