A new method produces bands of self-adhesive labels. A band of siliconised paper (1) is unrolled and covered first with self-adhesive (3), then by sheets (4a-d) of preprinted tickets. These are uniformly spaced, such that tickets adjacent between sheets, are spaced by the same distance as tickets on the same sheet. The perimeter of the labels is cut, without penetrating the continuous band. The edges are cut longitudinally, set back slightly from the of the pre-printed sheets. The cut edges are separated from the band, pulling away also, those parts of the sheet which initially surrounded the labels. Also claimed is the corresponding equipment for this process. The band is advanced intermittently over the distance of a sheet, plus the intervening gap. Whilst stationary, a new sheet is located on the band, as the perimeters of another, already-placed sheet, are cut. Having separated the edges and label-surround sections, the adhesive coming with them; these are consolidated into an assembly, with one or more bands of paper. Initial cutting of perimeters is carried out over a support (8), by rolling the band under a cylinder carrying blades (6).
