[Also in Division F2] In an oscillatory grinding mill comprising grinding drums 1, 2 and a drive comprising a shaft 14 and out-of-balance weights 15, 15' the filling of grinding bodies in the drum 1 is made so much heavier than the filling of grinding bodies in the drum 2 as to bring the axis of gravity of the mill substantially into the plate E, passing through the axis A, of the drive and perpendicular to the line connecting the centres of the drums, so that a substantially circular motion is obtained. In a modification (Fig. 3), the drums are arranged horizontally on each side of the drive axis. In another modification (Fig. 4), four grinding drums are provided one on each side of, and one above and below, the drive axis. In a further modification (Fig. 5), the plane passing through the axes of the drums is inclined to the horizontal and vertical. |
