PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water cutoff tape having a water absorption layer to which water absorptive resin particles are securely held without the leakage of binder component for forming the water absorption layer from a base and which has the good adhesiveness to the base and cover cloth by providing this tape with the water absorption layer having excellent water cutoff performance and surface smoothness. SOLUTION: A compsn. contg. a rubber based binder, inorg. fillers and org. solvent is applied on the surface of the base 1 and the coating film is dried, by which a sealing layer 2 is formed. A compsn. contg. 100 pts.wt. water absorptive resin particles, 5 to 10 pts.wt. rubber based binder and the org. solvent and having viscosity of <=20 poise is applied on the surface of this sealing layer 2 and the coating fpm is dried. by which the water absorption layer 3 is formed and the water cutoff tape is obtd. The surface of the water absorption layer is preferably provided with the cover cloth 4. |
