PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically detect the presence or absence of a foreign object in a container mechanically and accurately by picking up the image of the inside of a container and comparing the image signal with a reference image signal. SOLUTION: The image of the inside of a container where a foreign object is to be detected, for example, a cup filled with pudding is picked up by a CCD camera 10, the image signal is binarized by an image-processing device 12, and the binarized image signal is outputted to a comparator 13. On the other hand, a storage device 14 stores, as reference signals in advance, image signals that are obtained by picking up and binarizing the image of the same empty container as a container 11 where a foreign object is to be detected by the CCD camera 10 and outputs the reference image signals to the comparator 13. The comparator 13 that is constituted, for example, by a personal computer compares the image signal of the container 11 where a foreign object is to be detected with the reference image signals, excludes (eliminates) an image signal corresponding to the mutual container 11, and judges the presence or absence of the image signal corresponding to the foreign object. Then, when the image signal corresponding to the foreign object is judged, a failure detection signal is outputted. Otherwise, a normal detection signal is outputted. |
