The balloon (1) is held in a pocket (3) that is supported by a shoulder harness (4). This is fixed to the harness by a double strap (2). A button (6) releases the gas contained in a bottle (7) to inflate the balloon. A case (5) with a handle can be used to direct the balloon with a supplementary bottle of compressed gas (8). This is at a pressure which raises a man or prevents him falling. It is connected to the balloon by supple tubes (11).
