The invention relates to tetrachloro-orthophenylenediamine and salts thereof which may be prepared by the reduction of tetrachlorobenzotriazole. In an example 4,5,6,7-tetrachlorobenzotriazole is reduced with zinc and hydrochloric acid to produce tetrachloro-orthophenylenediamine.ALSO:Fungicidal compositions comprise as active ingredients tetrachloro-ortho-phenylenediamine or a salt thereof together with a solid or liquid diluent. Surface active agents may also be incorporated and many examples are given. Herbicides, fungicides, pesticides and plant growth regulants may also be incorporated in the composition. Other fungicides specified are sulphur, copper compounds e.g. cuprous oxide or cuprous oxychloride, nickel compounds e.g. nickel hydroxide and organic fungicides e.g. tetramethyl thiuram disulphide. |
