PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a coated optical fiber from having curling even if this fiber is rounded and is housed into a closure section and to substantially prevent the occurrence of instantaneous loss of transmitted light by forming a coating layer consisting of a UV curing resin having a specific equil. modulus of elasticity on an optical fiber. SOLUTION: The coating layer 3 of the coated optical fiber 1 is composed of the UV curing resin having the equil. modulus of elasticity of <=6×10<7> Pa. The equil. modulus of elasticity signifies the modulus of elasticity in storage which is made constant at a temp. above a glass transition temp. in measurement of a dynamic modulus of elasticity. When the coating layer 3 is formed on the optical fiber 1 by using the UV curing resin having the equil. modulus of elasticity below 6×10<7> Pa, more preferably below 5×10<7> Pa, the coated optical fiber 1 hardly curls. The examples of the UV curing resin include an urethane acrylate system, epoxy acrylate system, etc. A quartz glass based glass fiber is used as the optical fiber 2.
