摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a high quality display with a sufficient contrast and hardly causing coloring on display by providing a phase difference plate between a polarizing plate and a liquid crystal plate and reversing a twist direction of the phase-delaying axis to a twist direction of liquid crystal molecules, and to reduce a production cost by making a display device thinner. SOLUTION: This display device is provided with a liquid crystal cell 10, and a front side polarizing plate 21 and a rear side polarizing plate 22 which sandwich the liquid crystal cell 10, and a twisted phase difference plate 20 is provided between one of the polarizing plates and the liquid crystal cell 10. The twisted phase difference plate 20 is made of twisted arrayed film of polymer liquid crystal, and the phase-delaying axis, namely, arrayed direction of the polymer liquid crystal molecules is twisted at a predetermined twist angle from one face of the phase difference plate 20 to the other face. And, this twisted phase difference plate 20 is arranged so that the twist direction of the phase-delaying axis is reversed to the twist direction of the liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal cell 10.
