PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of an optical fiber connection part, by protecting and coating each connection part by using material which can obtain the effect equivalent to the sheath of the optical fiber, and accommodating the fiber in a reinforcing tube. SOLUTION: An optical fiber amplifier consists of an optical fiber coupler 3 wherein a rare earth element added optical fiber 1 is connected with a pumping light source 2 for exciting the fiber 1, and an optical fiber type isolator 4 for controlling oscillation of the amplifier. Sheath elimination parts of optical fibers 5, 6 connected by discharge fusion welding are re-coated by using re- protective resin 11 equivalent to the optical fiber sheath. The re-coated part and a part 7, 8 of the optical fiber sheath part are protected by a flexible protective tube 12. The freedom of arranging optical components is not limited by the arrangement position of a reinforcing sleeve, and the connection part is coated with UV curing resin and protected by a tube, so that water content in the air does not attach. As a result, the connection part can be protected for a long term. |
