PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of synthesizing computer holograms and a synthesis device capable of operating a calculation of an interference fringes at a high speed and generating a hologram independently from an area of a display picture. SOLUTION: An object to be displayed is inputted and its position information is managed (step 101). Here, an object at a long distance is classified (step 102), and a projected image formed by the long distance objects is created (step 103). Interference fringes are formed with this image adopted as a holographic stereogram (step 104). For an object at a short distance, a calculation range of interference fringes is determined according to a distance up to a hologram surface (step 105), and the interference fringes are calculated only in that range for each object (step 106). The interference fringes of a long distance object formed collectively and those of a short distance object formed by limiting a calculation range according to the distance are synthesized (step 107), and are displayed as a new hologram (step 108).
