PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light receiver which is higher in light detection sensitivity than before, and can elongate the receivable distance of an optical remote control receiver more than before. SOLUTION: A photodiode is constituted of a p-type semiconductor substrate 1 and a light receiving part 2 consisting of an n-type impurity region made hereon. A first p-type impurity region 3 is made on the surface of the light receiving part 2 on the semiconductor substrate 1 and around it, and a first shield part 5 to remove electromagnetic noise is constituted of the first impurity region 3 made in the surface region of the light receiving part 2. The first shield part 5 covers partially in lattice shape the surface of the light receiving part, so that the spontaneous noise caused by the contact with the light receiving part 2 may not occur excessively. Moreover, a second p-type impurity region 4 deeper than the light receiving part 2 is so made as to surround the first p-type impurity region 3, and it removes the electromagnetic noise from the flank of a semiconductor substrate 1. |
