PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical signal amplification and transmission system by which output power is optically controlled in response to a multiplex wavelength number without the need for transmission of information of the multiplex wavelength number from a transmission terminal. SOLUTION: This system is provided with a wavelength number detection means (input monitor photocoupler 1, arrayed waveguide 5 and array PD 9) that always detects a wavelength number multiplexed on a multiplex wavelength signal so as to control an amplifier means (stimulated laser light source 6, WDM photocoupler 2, erbium doped fiber 3) in responses to a wavelength number multiplexed with wavelength number information detected by the wavelength number detection means.
