The appliance has a weight-loaded belt, and a carrier at variable distances to a trainer crank shaft, so that turning of the band anchoring point with the shaft adjusts the length of the lever arm acting on the belt. The carrier with anchoring point (21) is turnably held on the shaft (7). Power transmission from the crank (9) to the carrier is via a load cell (30), which is connected to a computer (33). The carrier is formed by two perforated plates (12). An arm (29) between the plates is fastened to the crank shaft, and is connected angularly adjustable to the plates via the load cell.
