Optimal DDD pacemaker auricle/ventricle delay time determination

A device (1) for obtaining the optimal auricle/ventricle delay-time for a DDD-type heart pacemaker (4) for each individual patient consists of a system of sensors (2) and an evaluator (3) with which the non-electric quantities indicative of the patient's metabolic condition can be detected and measured. These include the atrial beat equivalent to the beat volume of the heart, amplitude variation in the arterial pulse and the maximal amplitude change by comparison with individual values. The values are digitalised in an analog/digital converter and transmitted through a conductor (6) to a processor to give an optimal A/V delay time which is transmitted telemetrically (7) to the pacemaker and thence to the heart (5).
