Rowlock design for rowing boat

The rowlock has a U-shaped body to receive an oar shaft. The ends of the legs of the U-shaped bracket can have a link extending across them. The link can be formed as a foldable curved arm pivoted to one leg and the other leg has a groove to receive the link. The pivoted end of the curved arm (9) has a stop (10) to contact the inner of the rowlock. The stop is fixed to the link so that the space between the contact and the second leg (13), in at least one position of the link, is larger than the diameter of the shaft of the oar.
