The invention relates to a folding apparatus (1) of low overall height for use in a web-fed rotary press having a device (2) for feeding a web of fabric (8) and a cylinder fold group (1). The apparatus is characterized in that the cylinder fold group (1) is fitted at right angles to the direction of feed (B) of the fabric web. Paper ribbon intake to the cylinder fold group (1) takes place in approximately horizontal direction.
